A look back at the 1992-1993 Pittsburgh Penguins season. The Penguins set a new NHL record for consecutive victories of 17 that still stands today. The Penguins set a team record for wins (56) and points (119) in a single season. Also, the team won the Presidents’ Trophy as the league’s top team for the first time in club history. Mario Lemieux missed 1/3 of the season, but won the scoring title by 12 points over Pat Lafontaine despite trailing by 18 when returning from undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s disease. The Pens lost in the final Patrick division finals in seven games to the New York Islanders. The series was arguably the biggest upset in modern NHL history. Mario missed the first two games of the series, but the Pens took a 3-2 series lead into New York for game 6, but lost 7-5. Game 7 saw the Pens trailing 3-1 with under 4 minutes left in the 3rd period. The Pens tied the game in the last minutes with 2 goals from the stick of Ronnie Francis. The Pens out shot the Isles 42-17 in game 7, but Glenn Healy had the game of his life. The Islanders would prevail in OT and win the series on David Volek’s one-time slapper that beat Barrasso. Cheer on your Favorite Team with Alyssa Milano Touch Clothing

There are more female sports fans out there than we think- and for years, they had to settle for big, oversized men’s jerseys, caps and other apparel. There weren’t really any companies out there making sports gear to suit a woman’s smaller frame or her different taste- but that’s no longer true. Alyssa Milano’s Touch line makes it a lot easier for women to look stylish while cheering on their favorite team- and we make it easier than ever to order this great clothing. With jackets, hats, pants, and shirts, she can look great and sport her team’s colors at the same time!

Touch was launched in the spring of 2007, when Alyssa Milano (who is a big baseball fan) wanted to wear her team’s colors but couldn’t find any gear that she liked. All of the stuff that was available was too big and geared more toward men. She felt that women should have more choices when it came to NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB apparel, so she started her own line of stylish, comfortable women’s

Defensemen Swapping Jerseys

Defensemen Swapping Jerseys

On the first day of free agency all the big name defensemen have been on the move. I think Pittsburgh made the best deals of the day landing Paul Martin and Zbynek Michalek. Both exceptionally good at helping keep the puck out of the net and should be a good mix with the already offensively talented defensemen in Pittsburgh in Kris Letang, and Alex Goligoski. Leaving Pittsburgh is Sergei Gonchar who signed with the Ottawa Senators and got the money and contract length Pittsburgh didn’t want to give him. These signings should be putting the Penguins back on top the eastern conference.

The Philadelphia Flyers may have the best top five defensemen in the NHL by resigning restricted free agent Braydon Coubourn and trading their 2012 second-round draft pick to Tampa Bay Lightning for Andrej Meszaros. Which potentially gives the Flyers the best defense corps in the league. Making up for the loss of Paul Martin the New Jersey Devils signed Anton Volchenkov to a

Athletic Scholarships Abound

You are a great athlete and feel it could help you pay for your education. The problem is, many athletic scholarships are set aside for elite athletes and they are very competitive and political. But have faith, there are many smaller colleges and universities willing to bring in athletes with funds and, most importantly, they are not only looking for athletic skills but also academic achievement and drive.

The most advertised and competitive athletic awards are the NCAA scholarships, by far, but there are so many more opportunities that go under-advertised for student athletes: those with schools in the NAIA and the NJCAA open up exponentially more scholarships. And an especially hot trend: emerging women’s sports.
NCAA Scholarships

The NCAA is by far the largest collegiate athletic association in the U.S. with well over 1,000 schools in its fold. Divisions I, II, and III serve to demarcate the sizes and monetization of athletic programs:

Programming

A list of the “Radio AAHS Top 20 Countdown” in the inaugural (March 1995) issue of the network’s short-lived magazine, shows the eclectic mix of music. Number one was a cover of the Fine Young Cannibals song, She Drives Me Crazy, as recorded on the album Muppet Singalong by Kermit and Miss Piggy. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Theme was #4, while two original songs by the Olsen twins, I Just Can’t Wait To Be King (from The Lion King soundtrack), a song for kids by Janet and Judy, and actor Jim Carrey’s version of Cuban Pete rounded out the list.

Network programming began with a morning show, The All-American Alarm Clock (which was introduced by the Craig Taubman song, Good Morning at the top of the hour from 6 to 11 EST), and continued with music throughout the day, as well as a feature of News for Kids, skits, jokes and stories. Advertising revenue came from sponsors such as Disney, Mattel and General Mills. During 199596, the
