The Rain Maker Sports: Sports Bytes – May 19, 2010

NY Jets DB Darrelle Revis must be experimenting with some of the “therapeutic” plant life on Revis Island. Revis is reportedly demanding a pay raise from the Jets, one that would pay him million per year. Revis is probably the best corner in the NFL, but for that kind of money I would expect him to cover both corner positions and free safety–at the same time . . .

I recognize that I’m going out on a limb, but sometimes you have to take the heat. May 29th’s Vitali Klitschko-Albert Sosnowski bout will not sell more PPV buys than did Mayweather-Mosley. There, I said it . . . Incidentally, the Klitschko-Sosnowski promo video doesn’t even include Sosnowski highlights. Nothing like trying to sell a fight as legitimate while ignoring the opponent . . .

Florida Marlins SS Hanley Ramirez is quickly becoming the poster boy for why so many sports fans dislike the modern professional athlete. On Tuesday, after misplaying a ball and kicking it, Ramirez

Montreal Canadiens Tickets And Seating Chart

If you’re a true fan that keeps up with everything that’s about the Montreal Canadiens, chances are you already know that you can vote for the player of the week every week during the 2009-10 hockey season. The winning play from each week will automatically be entered into a year-end elimination tournament to determine the play of the year. At the end of the first week in February, the choices are from the January 26th game against Florida and the nominees for that week are Michael Cammalleri, Tomas Plekanec and Andrei Markov; affectionately known as the snake charmers for their feats on the ice during that game.

In the January 30th game against Ottawa, Jaroslav Halak foiled Milan Michalek after Michalek got past not one, not two but three of the Habs. It earned Halak the title of “The Gatekeeper” during the game because he thwarted Michalek like a brick wall; there simply wasn’t any getting past to light the lamp. The third candidate for this particular

Watch Olympic Hockey Canada Vs Germany Online

It is well know that hockey is one of the most watched events at the Winter Olympics. This year is no different. Millions of people will tune in to WorldwideTVonPC.com to watch the game between Canada and Germany to see who will play Russia in the Quarter Finals. The loser will go home without a medal, and without their dignity.

Many people were shocked when they saw that Team USA beat Team Canada in the preliminary round at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. USA goaltender Ryan Miller gave a steady performance and shut down the Canadians. The Canadian goaltender Martin Brodeur wasn’t as successful against the Americans and let in 4 goals, a few of which were questionable. Team Canada has one last chance to reclaim it’s pride in hometown Vancouver as they play Team Germany, who also have a few Nhlers on their roster.

Carolina Downgraded to Tropical Depression Following 6-2 Game 3 Loss

The Carolina Hurricanes were downgraded to a tropical depression following tonight’s embarrassing loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Cam Ward, who might be replaced with the empty net in Game 4 considering that the empty net has only allowed two goals in the series, was strong at times but the relentless Penguins attack proved too much once again for him to stand up against.

Carolina drew first blood with a powerful attack early on when Cullen (3) was able to put the puck behind Marc-Andre Fleury. But after that the Penguins put the pedal down but Cam Ward could not make the saves to keep Carolina ahead. Not three minutes later Malkamania ran wild as Malkin (11) buried the tying goal on a powerplay. After back and forth play for the rest of the period, Crosby (14) and Malkin (12) each scored in the final minute of play to dart the Penguins out to a 3-1 lead.

That would be the way the game remained until

When It Comes To Sports – I’m Blacked Out

It is a trend that quite frankly has irritated me for quite some time now. I know I shouldn’t be that concerned with such trivial matters as the color scheme of a few pro sports teams, especially in light of all the financial and political chaos in this country, but I am. Sports are about tradition and tradition has always been about building something meaningful and being proud of what you are and where you come from.
I did not reach my level of concern without first trying to understand and adapt to the current trend in pro sports apparel. I considered that black may be slimming and, that alone would be a legitimate reason to adopt the color. However this method of reasoning soon left my mind when I gazed upon Warren Sapp looking just as fat in Raider silver and black as he did in Buccaneer red and pewter. We’ll discuss pewter later!
I know my disgust will not be enough to cause a sufficient ground swell of emotions to overturn this trend in sports
